The Unstoppable God
I was driving through Sebastopol, and I saw something that made me laugh.
Some misguided soul spray-painted the word GOD across the bottom of a stop sign.
As I passed by, I shook my head and thought to myself,
“Uh, good luck with that!”
Stop God?
Not gonna happen.
But as silly as that idea seems to you and me, foolish hearts have tried their best to oppose the Most High from the dawn of time
Cain. Pharoah. Haman. Jezebel. The Herod family. Just to name a few.
But none of them got very far, did they?
How frustrating it must be for both these rebels and the founder of the Stop God Campaign himself.
Satan was the one who floated the first ideas of a heaven-wide coup d’état. And a third of the angels signed on to the ill-fated mission.
And by the looks of the present anarchy, many other spirits (clothed with flesh and blood) have linked arms with God’s enemy.
But it’s a battle doomed to fail, isn’t it?
There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the LORD (Proverbs 21:30).
The Wonder-filled Counselor, Almighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace has Promised to Return and take His rightful seat on His throne to rule and reign forever (Isaiah 9:6).
And I love Isaiah’s tag line: The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this!
In other words: it’s the impassioned determination of the Most High God Himself that guarantees that this prophecy must come to pass.
And it will.
That means all the bad guys go bye-bye.
And the curse gets reversed and everything on the planet is restored to its former glory.
As the Apostle Peter reminds us:
But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells (2 Peter 3:13).
God’s got a plan–and it’s a good one–and it includes you.
Plans to help you, not to harm you.
Plans to give you a hope and a future.
And His plans you will come to pass.
No. Matter. What.
The Maker of Heaven and Earth is coming once again to walk on the earth He spoke into existence.
And this time, it’s not in weakness and humility–it’s in a blaze of fire and glory! He comes to rescue His people and judge the earth!
Our Hero.
Our God.
Our Savior.
Our Friend.
For, “In just a little while, He who is coming will come and will not delay“ (Hebrews 10:37).
Because nothing can stop our God.
