Hanging by a Thread

Ever feel like you’re hanging on by a thread?

It happens.

But here’s the good news for Believers.

If that so-called thread is suspended from heaven, forged out of the eternal promises of God, and is being held by the One who made heaven and earth, then…

You’ve got nothing to worry about.

The Lord has never lost one soul who has come to Him, and you, my dear Christian friend, will not be the first!

God upholds His dear children with cords that cannot be broken, for they are as indestructible as He is.

The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms (Deuteronomy 33:27).

If the eternal God is holding you secure, why worry?

Well, I can hear you say…

“It’s not God I’m worried about–it’s me–it’s my part I’m concerned about.”

Well, let me remind you of something you probably already know.

You didn’t save yourself.

Remember?

And if it wasn’t up to you then, it can’t be up to you now.

It’s God’s job to hold on to you; if it were up to us to hold on to Him, we’d all be in a world of hurt, wouldn’t we?!

The Bible heroes have flaws and shortcomings–but God says: I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

It’s not by
man’s might,
not by human power,
but by My Spirit, says the Lord (Zechariah 4:6).

God’s cords of kindness and bands of love are designed to withstand every strain that can come against us in a fallen world.

They find their ultimate strength in the words: “It is finished!” It is finished means–forever secure!

I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are One” (John 10:28-30).

The Lord Jesus seems to think we’re eternally secure. Let’s go with his version of the story.

Believers are under contract—and fortunately, it’s a unilateral one, an agreement where all the responsibility is weighted on one side: His.

The “covenant-cord” that ties the Believer to Heaven was …

initiated by God the Father
established by God the Son
and sealed forever by God the Holy Spirit.

Yes, indeed…

A three-cord strand is not quickly broken (Ecclesiastes 4:12).

And that three-cord strand is holding you secure, now and forevermore.

So, you many feel like you’re holding on by a thread, but, remember, if it’s the thread of heaven…

You’re more secure than you think.
